From idea to reality
Program Coordination
“What is role as the Program Coordinator
My job as the Program Coordinator is to be the architect and manager in charge of the creative direction for the entire show. I have the overall vision of what the final product on the field will be. To make this possible, I manage the design staff, set project deadlines, offer to help give direction to the instructional staff, and more. I design the big moments in the show and provide direction on which those events can be connected. It is my job to oversee the entire design process from the inception of the show idea until the ideas come to fruition.
My job as the Program Coordinator is…
- To be in communication with and be an available and ongoing resource to director, drill designer, music arranger, and staff as needed throughout the season.
- To develop or assist in the development of the show theme and/or program concept.
- To provide professional expertise as to the structure and thematic choices within the theme or concept.
- To consult on musical source material and show structure.
- To work with the director, drill designer, music arranger, choreographer, and staff to provide a comprehensive program document that will serve as the outline for the show.
- To work with the director and staff to create a visual aesthetic for the show. This will include, but is not limited to, drill design, big picture moments, form motion, body movement, flag design, costume design, and prop design where requested.
- To consult on the evolution of the visual aesthetic.
- To provide guidance to resources to manufacture, procurement and supply of flag, costume and prop design where requested.
- To provide ongoing assistance and expertise via a process of examining video footage of performances and rehearsals and returning critical and creative commentary and instruction.
